Two former Alamo followers speak out

An ex-member of Tony Alamo Christian Ministries and witness to the beating of 12-year-old Justin Miller in California in the 80s spoke to reporters Wednesday before the trial got under way.

“That was the last straw for me,” said Barry Haynes. “I came in and the beating was in process. Tony was directing it over the phone. What I remember was about 140 whacks with a board.”

Haynes’ wife, Connie Haynes, left the ministry in 1996 after becoming sickened by Alamo’s polygamy and control over the group.

The couple said they are in Texarkana to watch portions of Alamo’s sex abuse trial.

“I’m prepared to see justice,” Connie Haynes said.

“He was always talking about the Pope and the anti-Christ,” Connie Haynes said. “What they’ve done is make him their Pope.”

I am so sick of perverted power monger lusty men hiding behind & using God & the Bible to enslave little girls & women by brainwashing them & threatening them. How dare them for saying it is God’s will when in reality it is their own lust for power & perverted lust for little girls. They are sick & deserve everything our laws have coming to them.
