State files motions against Alamo lawyer
TEXARKANA – Efforts by lawyers for jailed evangelist Tony Alamo to gather what they claim is evidence for a civil suit against the state in federal court are really an attempt to interfere in state-court custody actions involving the children of Alamo followers, according to lawyers for the state.
The state Department of Human Services filed five motions in federal court Friday in the civil lawsuit that accuses the agency of harassment and civil rights violations in the removal of children from Tony Alamo Christian Ministries.

Judge delays access to Alamo case data
Arkansas child-welfare officials will not have to provide the Tony Alamo Christian Ministries with any information until a judge decides whether the ministry’s lawsuit should be dismissed, the judge ruled Tuesday.

An attorney said Wednesday that he plans to publish a notice in a newspaper as early as next week giving the man accused of being Tony Alamo’s “enforcer” 30 days to respond to a lawsuit or risk having a judgment entered against him.
The lawsuit was filed in U.S. District Court in Texarkana in November by Spencer Ondrisek and Seth Calagna, both 18 at the time, against Alamo and John Kolbeck, who authorities say administered beatings on Alamo’s behalf.

My Alamo War
Ernest Kearney
It’s funny.
I hadn’t thought of the name in ages, yet inexplicably the last few months the name and all the madness connected had been wafting about the edges of my consciousness. Then not long ago, savoring the morning’s first cup of coffee, I opened the L.A. Times and there it was, “Tony Alamo.”
