Six jurors chosen in Alamo trial

Six jurors chosen in Alamo trial

Six jurors have been seated in the sexual abuse trial of Tony Alamo as of 10 a.m. today.

Jury selection will continue until a 12-member jury and two alternates have been chosen to decide whether the 74-year-old evangelist is guilty of bringing young girls across state lines for six as alleged in the 10-county indictment.

The prosecution and defense were questioning potential jurors about their experience with children, their religion and whether they can view Alamo as innocent unless the government proves guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.

U.S. District Judge Harry Barnes had said Monday he would like testimony to get underway this afternoon.
