First 6 jurors for Alamo trial on sex charges seated in Texarkana

Half of the jury for jailed evangelist Tony Alamo’s trial on charges he took young girls across state lines for sex has been seated in federal court in Texarkana.

More than 100 potential jurors from across western Arkansas sat through questioning by prosecutors and defense lawyers Tuesday morning.

U.S. District Judge Harry F. Barnes is calling potential jurors 10 at a time for questioning.

Prosecutors asked whether jurors could trust the truthfulness of children and if they believe people are able to tell a child abuser just by looking at a person.

Defense lawyers asked if jurors had children and if they attend church.

A 12-person jury and two alternates will be seated for the trial.
