Teen: Alamo married her because she was ‘innocent’
A teenage girl who said evangelist Tony Alamo married her at age 11 says he picked her because she looked “very innocent to him.”
The girl, now 17, testified Friday afternoon in Alamo’s trial on charges he took underage girls across state lines for sex. The teen is the final alleged victim listed in the 10-count indictment to testify.
The girl says Alamo had sex with her in the back bedroom of his large touring bus in 2004. She says Alamo locked the door and the bus’ sounds blocked out the noise he made.
As she testified, Alamo fell asleep twice. One of his lawyers woke him the second time after seeing a reporter watching him.
U.S. District Judge Harry F. Barnes adjourned the trial until 8:30 a.m. Monday.
