Tony Alamo has been found guilty of all 10 counts of a federal indictment accusing him of bringing young girls across state lines for sex.
“Thank God,” said Dyann Jackson, former follower and member of Partnered Against Cult Activity.
The jury of nine men and three women were quickly whisked away in an airport shuttle to their cars.
Alamo stood, silent, as U.S. District Judge Harry Barnes read the verdict.
“Guilty,” Barnes said after listing each count individually.
The Jane Does and others who testified about being abused, controlled and filled with fear by their former pastor held hands, hugged and cried.
“You really appreciate the courage that they showed stepping up to face their demons,” said FBI Special Agent in charge Thomas Browne.
Alamo will return to court in about six to eight weeks before Barnes.
If he receives the maximum on all ten counts and if Barnes orders him to serve the sentences consecutively, Bernie LaZar Hoffman, better known as Alamo, could receive 175 years in federal prison.
