Alamo trial rescheduled

Tony Alamo’s criminal trial has been rescheduled for July 13.

His defense team, Danny Davis of California, Don Ervin of Houston and Jeff Harrelson of Texarkana, met with U.S. District Judge Harry Barnes and prosecutors from the U.S. Attorney’s Office in the judge’s chambers Friday morning in Texarkana.

Davis filed a motion earlier this week requesting the May 18 trial date be postponed four months citing a need for more time to investigate and locate witnesses.

The U.S. government opposed the delay because of the effort and expense required to issue new subpoenas and rearrange travel plans for witnesses.

Alamo is facing a 10-count federal indictment in the Western District of Arkansas accusing him of bringing young girls across state lines for sex.
