Alamo’s enforcer died of heart failure

Authorities in Kentucky say the alleged enforcer of convicted evangelist Tony Alamo died of congestive heart failure.

Fifty-one-year-old John Kolbeck died last Thursday at a home near Louisa, Ky.

Kolbeck had been wanted since 2008 on a charge of second-degree battery in the beating of a teenage member of Alamo’s ministry. He was also ordered in 2009 to pay $3 million after failing to respond to a federal lawsuit in Arkansas by two members of the ministry who accused Kolbeck of beating them.

An attorney for the two men told the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette that he’ll ask a judge to appoint someone to represent Kolbeck’s estate so efforts can begin to collect the $3 million.
