Hearing delayed over sale of Tony Alamo properties
A judge has postponed a federal court hearing over the ownership of properties belonging to the Tony Alamo Christian Ministries.
The hearing had been scheduled for Thursday morning, but U.S. Magistrate Judge Barry Bryant granted a request Wednesday afternoon delaying the hearing.
Last month, Bryant ruled that six properties in Fort Smith can be sold to partially satisfy a $30 million civil judgment awarded to two former members of Alamo’s ministry. Alamo is now serving a 175-year prison sentence after he was convicted in 2009 of taking young girls across state lines for sex.
