Lawyers say Alamo followers gut Ark. properties
Six properties in Fort Smith that are owned by convicted evangelist Tony Alamo are set for auction next month.

But a motion filed this week in federal court says some Alamo followers have been gutting the properties ahead of a public sale.

The Texarkana Gazette reports ( http://bit.ly/1hqMNYT) that lawyers representing those who are supposed to benefit from the sale want the U.S. Marshals Service to stop such alleged actions.

The scheduled sale of the properties comes after Alamo was ordered to pay millions of dollars to two men. A jury found that Alamo ordered the men to be beaten, starved and abused when they were children in his ministry.

Alamo is currently serving a 175-year prison term after being convicted of taking young girls across state lines for sex.
