Grand Jury Meeting Next Week on Alamo
When Tony Alamo returns to Arkansas after his arrest on a charge that he transported minors across state lines for illegal purposes, he will get quick consideration from a grand jury.
A new panel is scheduled to be sworn in at Fort Smith on Tuesday. A previous grand jury recently completed work after 18 months and a new one will take its place.
Alamo was arrested Thursday in Arizona, five days after state and federal agents raided his compound near Fouke in far southwestern Arkansas. He waived his rights to an extradition hearing and will be transported by U.S. marshals back to Arkansas.
Federal court officials say the selection of a new grand jury next week is coincidental.
