Minister accuses mayor of slander: Associate pastor of Alamo Ministries threatens legal action if accusations continue
FOUKE, Ark. If a public official doesnt stop accusing the founder of the Tony Alamo Ministries of being a pedophile and the members of the ministries of having guns, lawsuits will be filed against the person and the City of Fouke, an associate pastor for the ministries said Thursday night. The Fouke City Council was about to adjourn when Tony Alamo Ministries associate pastor Buster White asked to make a comment. ‘Our pastor (Tony Alamo) has been accused of being a pedophile. He is 72 years old and it sickens him to have been accused of being a pedophile’ said White. He said the second accusation was that weapons are being stored at the ministries located near the northwest Fouke city limits along U.S. Highway 71.

Fouke backs off Circle Drive: Threat of Alamo lawsuit convinces council to stop inquiry into opening road near the ministry headquarters
FOUKE, Ark. A letter threatening a lawsuit against the City of Fouke convinced enough members of the Fouke City Council to approve a resolution stopping any further action to open Circle Drive on the south side of the Tony Alamo Ministries headquarters. During a called council meeting Thursday night, the council approved the resolution to ‘terminate inquiries on Circle Drive and no further review of property rights on the street. Circle Drive dead ends near the headquarters of the Alamo Ministries. In 2006, R&G Securities had been hired to stop traffic from driving on the street and coming onto the parking lot of the ministries. Proposals had been made to extend Circle Drive to connect to Forrest Street and then open Forrest Street from Circle Drive to Williams Circle. Proposals were made in 2006 to give additional access to property behind the Alamo headquarters. Reportedly, several mobile homes are located behind the ministries and there was concern about the limited access in case of a medical emergency or fire.

The mattress company alleges that instead of distributing mattresses to storm victims, officials at the alleged charity negotiated side deals to sell 4,000 of them at drastically discounted prices, netting a cool profit of $500,000.

Letters to the Editor
TO THE EDITOR:
The streets surrounding Alamo’s “church” were being shut off. Everyone that had tried to enter had been met by armed guards. They have been stopped, questioned, tag numbers ran, told to leave and intimidated.
When the guards (RG Security) have encountered someone who knows their civil rights and refuses to answer them, they get upset. Not until all the fed-up citizens started really complaining to the mayor were the guards told to back off.
The citizens’ incidents with Alamo followers and the guards have been reported to the county sheriff, unlike Alamo’s rantings & ravings. Alamo said (by phone) that first he had the guards to protect the church, then it was for his black members, then his schoolchildren. What he needs to say is that he’s scared someone will come into his compound and discover what’s really going on in there. Alamo fears for himself and that’s all, as he has for years. His gifts to the city have bought him some time.
That is what Alamo does.
