Alamo sentencing reset
Tony Alamo’s sentencing for child sex abuse crimes has been reset to Nov. 13 by a federal judge.
Alamo, 75, was convicted by a jury July 24 n the Texarkana Division of the Western District of Arkansasof all 10 counts in an indictment accusing him of bringing young girls acro ss state lines for sex between 1994 and 2005.

DHS: Wanting to remove child from parents not retaliation
Accusations that an Arkansas Department of Human Services petition to remove an infant born to Tony Alamo Christian Ministries members in June was filed in retaliation can’t be true, according to a document filed Friday by the DHS.

Judge: Religious freedom doesn’t allow Alamo to order beatings
The constitutionally guaranteed right to religious freedom didn’t give Tony Alamo the right to order beatings, force fasts and falsely imprison, according to a federal judge’s ruling Wednesday in a lawsuit filed by two men who claim to have been beaten as children at Alamo’s bidding.

Arkansas DHS wants federal judge to dismiss civil lawsuit
The Arkansas Department of Human Services wants a federal judge to dismiss a civil lawsuit filed by Tony Alamo Christian Ministries because the “bad faith” necessary to keep the case alive doesn’t exist, according to a brief filed Monday.
The suit was filed in April on behalf of the ministry and two fathers with children in foster care. DHS has described the civil action as a thinly veiled attempt to get a federal court to meddle in state court custody proceedings. Federal courts may not intervene in state cases except in rare circumstances such as bad faith.
