Tony Alamo’s Polygamy Messages

Here are a few of Tony Alamo’s messages on Polygamy found on the internet. They were recorded in 1993 when he was introducing the concept to his followers and then began taking brides (just before he was convicted of a felony). These messages give a disturbing insight as to the direction Tony Alamo was taking the group in the early 1990’s.

The messages were divided into 2 parts. Each part is approximately 45 minutes long. By clicking on one of the messages below you will download the file to your computer and listen to it with your specific audio program. You might need RealPlayer to listen to the files.

Staff photo by Jim Williamson Miller County Deputy Phillip Hardemon, left, taps on the arm of Sherry Potts during a verbal exchange outside the Fouke City Hall Wednesday night with Fouke City Councilman T. O. Hardin. The councilman, right, argued about her right to attend the public meeting. Hardin had called the Miller County Sheriffs Department to complain about Potts and asked to have her removed from city hall. The officer told the crowd to ‘disperse’ and no one was arrested.

Claudia Chervyakova Recalls The Beating of Justin Miller

When 11 year old Justin Miller was severely beaten with a wooden paddle (late 80’s) Tony Alamo ordered his step-father, Marc Landgarten, to hold him but needed the help of 3 more men so they could hit Justin right on target “spread-eagle in the air”. My ex-husband (also an abuser, but unknown to me at that time) was one of the people Tony chose to hold an arm or a leg. At home, after the beating, he told me he had been keeping count of the swats and said he counted 155, and that he also saw BLOOD that was oozing out of the seat of Justin’s pants!! This sadistic punishment was done at one of the Tony Alamo foundation locations, consisting of 3 houses, around 500 yards from the “church”. It’€™s very secluded there, with no neighbors, not even street-lights, so nobody heard Justin’s screams for help!! Tony was on a speaker-phone, next-door, telling the person swinging the paddle (Terry Farr) how many more times to strike, done “baseball-style”, all the while, looking up SCRIPTURES from the BIBLE and reading them to Justin!! Tony had ALL of the children who lived in the Saugus, Ca. church, at that time, assembled there to witness the beating. One woman, J. S. (15 years old at the time) told me that she had also seen blood coming through Justin’s jeans!! J.S. said to me that every one of those children, including herself and her sister, were called back over to Tony Alamo’s house later on and told by Tony, “you never saw a spanking”, ” nobody ever was spanked”, “there was no spanking that happened”, etc. These children who were ordered to be there were age 3 to 15. Knowing Tony as I do, after being in the organization for 21 messed up years, in my opinion he had those children there so that they would always fear him the rest of their lives. Tony is into “total control of every follower” and, as Hitler, will settle for no less than COMPLETE OBEDIENCE !!!!

How many would continue to contribute knowing these facts?

Tony Alamo was convicted in July 2009 of 10 Federal Counts of taking underage girls across state lines for sex and he is now serving 175 years in a federal penitentiary.

Many have unknowingly supported the Alamo Ministries by tithing or donating to Tony Alamo’s organization through Arm Full of Help. According to Arm Full of Help’s website , contributions are tax deductible through Holiness Tabernacle Church, Inc. According to documents filed with the U.S. 8th Circuit Court of Appeals, available on their website , Holiness Tabernacle Church is an arm of Alamo Ministries. In addition, several of the spokespeople of Arm Full of Help, such as Susan McElroy (Susan McElroyMillerScarcello), identified in a Los Angeles Times article shown on the Arm Full of Help website, are members of Alamo Ministries. In 1994, however, Alamo was convicted of income tax fraud for using money earned by or contributed to Alamo Ministries as his own personal income. In the trial leading to this conviction, the prosecution showed that while Alamo’s followers lived simply, Alamo himself lived in lavish style from profits of his supposed ministry.

Tony Alamo Denies Knowledge of Child Weddings In His Church

If you have been doing your research and paying attention to the verifiable facts on this website, you are aware that Tony Alamo is the self proclaimed prophet and leader of the Alamo Ministries. You are also aware that NOTHING is done within the group without his direct approval or direction. If you have to go to the doctor, you have to ask Tony’s permission. If you have to go to the dentist, you have to ask Tony’s permission. If you need anything at all, you must ask Tony to acquire it for you.

This being said, it would seem very unlikely that you don’t have to ask Tony for permission to marry someone. However, that is what he claims in this sound bite. Many people have witnessed the child weddings and we were lucky enough to get an actual photo from the day one of the ceremonies took place. Click here to view the wedding photo of twelve year old Jackie Garner.

Children In The Tony Alamo Ministries

Most of the children born into the Tony Alamo Ministries have no birth certificates or legal identification. Unless there is a complication in the delivery of a child, all children (infants) are born using a midwife (who is also devoted to the group) in the home.

There is no way to prove how many children are born into the group or how many die because of this blatant disregard for the legal system. Unfortunately, when the children become adults and leave the group, they have no way of proving their identity.
